MB Club of NSW Concours d'Elegance 2013

The day has finally arrived for the Concours d'Elegance and I'm excited! Having the need to be at the event grounds at just after 8am, I had an early morning start. I really didn't get enough sleep!

I'm not going to talk too much about the event, I'll just say that there were 3 cars in the class I had entered. The other cars were a 1988 180E and W124 320 CE (unsure of the year). Both cars were absolutely immaculate! I was especially envious of the W124.

I had been keeping this a secret till today. I ordered some custom number plates from Germany :)

A quick walk around of George.

It was finally George's turn for the judges to pour over.

While the judges completed their rounds, I snapped a few pics of the other entrants.

Some more photos of George.

Ok ok... Enough delaying!

After 52.5 hours of detailing.......
WE WON SECOND PLACE!

I was so excited and surprised! The first place winner was the white 180E which, as I said before, was absolutely perfect. You can see it in the above photos along with the W124 (which I thought would win with the 180E 2nd).

The overall winner of the day was this 220 SE.

Now, back to a normal life of upkeep on old George, but next he's due for an oil change as he's just ticked over 215,000kms today :)

God bless my wife, Susana, for putting up with me over the last few weeks as I prepared for this event. She's an absolute gem!

Im sure you know this, but your rear spolier seems to be lifting up from both sides!

    1. Thanks. Yes, I'm aware of that. I'll get it fixed when it becomes a priority. It's very difficult sourcing parts for a 16v in Australia!

  2. Hey Hasan,

Get the spoiler whilst you can. There are not many left in Germany. I had the same thing happen to my 16v. I bought the part new. Let me know if you need a good source to purchase from.

    1. I'd like to get a brand new one, but I know that's going to be over $1k. I can't justify that cost right now. Unfortunately, when I can, they won't be around any more :(
I do have a lead on a local 2nd hand one that's in good condition. Let's see what happens.
